VANITY FAIR cancels Oscar Party

Although the buzz has been positive about the Writers Strike ending, the fact that Vanity Fair has announced that they're not having their annual party doesn't sound like the magazine has much confidence that things will get wrapped up by Oscar night. Maybe I'm reading too much into this. Thoughts?
For the uninitiated, the Vanity Fair Party is almost always THE event of Oscar night. Last year I strolled Robertson with friend S and the entire two blocks of Robertson south of the party were closed off for vehicles. Police stopped cars trying to get to the Vanity Fair shindig and checked via cellular if each car full of celebrity was on the list. I watched more than a few get turned away.

Favorite overhead policeman quote from that night, as he spoke to Vanity Fair Headquarters via headset: "Is Borat allowed in?" in reference to what I assume was a limo carrying Sacha Baron Cohen.
What next? Are they going to tell us that the Swifty Lazar party is back on? What the hell is going on here?
